With more than two decades leading consulting and retail-branded firms in President and CEO roles, Phil Kowalczyk (He/Him) has built a track record for building businesses by building great teams. His experience running businesses around the world has honed his respect for the power of people with different life experiences and perspectives. His extensive experience with global brands for both public-and privately-held companies showed that consistent, profitable growth is best achieved with a focus on unlocking talent and building a place to belong for customers AND employees. The natural result – shareholder received great returns.
As an experienced CEO and Board member, it is a natural progression to build expertise in DEI. “Getting diversity and inclusion right is a strategic and organizational imperative.” There are quantifiable business benefits, not to mention great human benefits to leading with confidence in DEI. Phil’s goal is helping clients advance along their DEI journey.
Phil has extensive leadership experience as former President/CEO of three major retail brands. He has also served on numerous boards of directors, including Chairman of the Board of the Green Chair Project, a nonprofit that assists families emerging from homelessness.
As a lifelong learner, Phil continues to be involved in Executive Education programs at Harvard University and Yale’s CEO roundtable. However, he says the greatest joy stems from mentoring students in MBA and Master’s degree programs in the Poole School of Management at NC State University.
Phil is a husband, father, and adventure traveler. He enjoys planning family experiences, exploring new places, new food, and new relationships.
Why DEI? This is one of the tectonic shifts affecting businesses and the workplace today, my hope is to learn, contribute, and help others on their DEI journey.
